Guess I'm gonna finally jump on board with this whole blogging thing. So you family members, you know who you are, you can get off my back! I'm just teasing....kind of. I've really struggled with starting because who is gonna read this, I mean really. So here's where I beg for comments. If you stop by please comment so I know you were here and so that I will keep posting.
So for food.....
K's teacher for the First Grade is Miss Lansford. I volunteer in the classroom for an hour on Mondays. Her teacher is the best and the class is so fun. (so many cute kids and some punks too) This year to say thanks to the volunteering mom's she gave us a fabulous Christmas treat. They were these cute little chocolate covered bits of heavenly cake. I mean Uh-mazing!!!! They were so good that I went to class after the holiday break and begged for the recipe. She was so surprised that I wanted it. She said I would laugh when I saw how easy it was. Well I didn't laugh, I jumped for joy!! It is so easy but so yummy!! People will be begging you for the recipe and you'll look like a super star!
Here is a pic of the deliciousness-
They look yummy huh? You wanna run out and make them don't you? First though we need to vote on a new name (here's where you get to comment) I refuse to call these "cake balls". I mean I can be crude and swear like a pirate but I just can't call these amazing confections by that ugly name. So what shall we name them? Little bites of heaven? Those one amazing cake treats? Do give suggestions!
Here is the super simple recipe:
1 cake mix - any flavor
1 tub/can frosting - any flavor
1 pkg almond bark or melting chocolate
Bake cake as directed on the box. Let cake cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes. You want the cake to be warm to melt the frosting. In a bowl mix the cake and frosting together with a hand mixer for 3 minutes. Place in fridge to cool for 10 minutes. Next roll the cake into 1 inch balls (I just used my mini cookie scoop) and place on a wax paper covered cookie sheet. Place these in the fridge to cool for 10 minutes. While that is cooling melt the chocolate for dipping. Dip the balls into melted chocolate and place back on the wax paper. (use the wax paper otherwise they will stick to the cookie sheet and you'll be sad) Allow the chocolate to set and enjoy!!
Oh the possibilites....next I'm trying red velvet with cream cheese frosting and white chocolate dipped. Or carrot cake, or pumpkin, or...man it's gonna be yummy!
Hopefully you can see in my pic the cute little lines over the tops. I just had some extra chocolate so I just put it in a baggie, snipped off the end and then drizzled it back and forth to give it that stripey look. Fun huh!
Okay, I'm off to blog-hop. It's my favorite new past-time. Kids are sleeping so I'll just be clicking away.
P.S. Next post I'll try to use more exclamation points.

Yippee!!!! I'm so glad you've started and I love your first post. Yummy "cake balls!" I'm not so good with creative names so I don't have a replacement - but "cake balls" makes me giggle! I love the title of your blog as well. You're awesome. Keep it up - I'm adding you to my blog list - so looking forward to the next entry. luv ya. Dana
ReplyDeleteYay for you sistay!! What a super cute blog and what a fantastic post! I was thinking of names for the treats, and most had fudgy in the name, but if you switch up the flavors, that wouldn't always apply. I'll brainstorm more and get back to you :)
ReplyDeleteLove you!
What up sister?! I'm SOOO excited that you started a blog - now we both have a blog no one reads! ;) As for names, my thoughts were:
ReplyDeleteGot Milk Cake - because you definitely need a swig of milk with these bad boys.
Cake Nibbles - cuz you should take 2 bites, not just pop it in your mouth.
Heavenly Holes - like donut holes, but sooo much tastier...
Ok, I'm done now - love you!!!
OK people this is my whole reason I did NOT want to start a blog either-NO ONE reads them, or you start to discuss things with your family (who basically threw a fit until I made my own blog too-kidding friends too) and then NO ONE EVER COMMENTS! It's so annoying. So Amy, I vow to you I will comment. No one comments on mine and I know if you had a blog back when you would look at mine through other people's you would've commented on mine too. So anyway I don't know what to call those delicious treats either, they were amazing in taste and looks on Sunday. You're the best treat cook - EVER! Add me to your list of who's blogs you look at and I'm adding you to mine: eternaldimonds08.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLove you Sister! =)
p.s. your pic of you from St. George kissing the Diet Coke can with your Gun Metal Silver nails is awesome. =)
ReplyDeleteAmy! This is darling and if you keep posting recipes, people will keep looking! Dang, I'm doing weight watchers and those little guys would throw me for a loop. Dang and I mean it.
