Sand Hollow

We just got back from a weekend in the sun! I can't even describe how wonderful it was. We went for a short weekend down to Sand Hollow Reservoir in Hurricane. For those of us locals you say that "Hurricun". I giggle to myself everytime I say it, don't know why.

I had never been to Sand Hollow before. It's like an uber-mini Lake Powell.


When I saw it I thought, man they should have dug a bigger hole. My Gpa informed me that in the next 10 - 12 years it will be twice the size it is now. That will be so great because it is a fantastic recreation spot. Monster bass, great fishing and miles of ATV trail. We saw tons of rigs pull in with trailers of bikes and souped up vehicles already to dig some sand. We, of course, were there for the bass.

When we arrived on Friday it was so super windy. We decided not to wet a line that day and wait till Sat morning. So we headed into town and took the kids bowling. It was so fun! They had a blast. My handsome son would put his face right next to that ball return so he could see his ball magically re-appear. And that darling daughter of mine did a little dance each time her ball knocked pins down.






Thankfully the next day provided better weather. Gpa D and J went out and caught some fish. Later they came back in for a rest and a bite to eat. At this point during the day we snuck away and drove into St. George. I couln't be that close and not go say "Hi" to my Gparents. And my Dad was even in town visiting them that weekend too. We hung out for a few hours and visited. It is always so great to see them!

When we got back we ate a yummy dinner and headed back out to the water. While we were away visiting my family, Gpa D caught a big bass so J was in competition mode, he had to catch a monster too. Well he did it!! He caught a big 4 1/2 pound, 19 inch bass. So cool!! It's so fun to watch him reel it in while his kids are at his feet all full of excitement. Priceless moments I'm tellin ya!





My kids love getting in on the action and Gma C is always quick to oblige. She is so generous. She hooks a fish (doing all the work really) and then lets the kids reel it into the boat. She is all excited for them, cheering them on, and gushing over the fish "they" caught. She is the best!!!

It was the best weekend!! I can never repay my in-laws for all that they do for us. We pulled the boat down and they pulled their trailer. We all stayed together to make some cozy memories. And they took us out on that boat everyday. My kids will have some of the best memories thanks to them! Thanks Gpa for keeping the gas tank full, for being an expert boat driver, for finding us all those fish and for making the whole trip happen. Thanks Gma for teaching my kids how to hold a fish (teeth or no teeth) and for all the wonderful accomodations. You two are the best!!

Oh and while we were there our darling daughter lost another tooth. I told her she looks like a jack o'lantern and I don't think she liked it. She is missing her two front teeth and then two on the bottom. But look how cute she is!!



It was the best weekend. All that sun makes me wish for spring even more than before!!
