The first one I completed was this cute set of blocks. I copied the idea from the blog "How Does She". It turned out darling!
The second completed project and the one that took me the longest is this jar of shamrocks. My mom had these jars in her DI pile and I rescued them. I thought "there has to be something I can do with these?!" So I had the brilliant idea to cut out a bunch of shamrocks from felt, kinda just stitch them together and stuff them with something to make them puffy. Yeah, all those steps took ages but I like the end result. I also stitched little scraps of green fabric on each one and added a button. So fun!
The third project was a fun segment I saw on Studio 5. They had fabric designer Heather Bailey on their show and she made these cute fabric flowers. If Darren could make one so could I!! So I found the instructions on her blog and made one for my darling daughter to wear to school. I cannot sew. It's definitely a fact after making that little number. I decided to layer two of the flowers together for more contrast. You should have seen me and the amount of thread I decided was necessary to hold it together. My poor mother-in-law and sister-in-law probably would have died from trying not to laugh at me. Oh well. K loved it and that's all that matters!
And last but not least I saw these super cute mini cupcakes on the Picky Palate. I wanted to make them the minute I saw them. They were so yummy!!!! I'm gonna change up the food coloring and make them for many more holidays. I made a plate for K's teacher and she delivered it and said "I'm so lucky you are my teacher" On St. Patty's Day nite we also delivered plates to all the G-parents with the kids saying "We are so lucky you're our Grandparents!" It was so cute and all the grandparents seemed so suprised and excited by the little treat.
Here is a pic of my little display. Looking at it here it looks a little sad compared to all the elaborate ones you see in crafty blog land. It sits in my kitchen on top of my pie/fruit/game cupboard that I got from my Gma. The cupboard is a 100 years old and I love it. I smiled each time I walked by and saw my cute little decorations.
Now for some Easter decorations.....I should have had those done the day after St. Patty's Day but what ya gonna do?
P.S.
I take these pictures with my flash and they seem so flipping bright but then without the flash I worry they are too dark. I don't have a digital SLR (still haven't found that JERK with my money tree) so any suggestions for me on how to make my pic's look better?

LOVE IT ALL!! So super cute - way to go! I can see why it would take a while to do - love all the details.
ReplyDeleteI Love each and every one of them!! I'm sorry I wasn't much help in the sewing land... I'll find my talent someday - it's probably with the JERK who has your money tree... anyway, super cute stuff and I think you did a Great job!
ReplyDeleteMost standard point and shoot digital camera's still have an option for.....oh shoot....can't remember the name......EXPOSURE, ha, i knew i knew it! I think wife's camera is usually set at -1 because it is usually WAY to bright too! If you can't figure out how to change it on your own, i'd be happy to help next time we are over at your place! "I'd teach you, but i'd have to charge" hehehehe, stupid song......but so memorable!!!
ReplyDeleteps - if you don't know what song i'm talking about, think about the shaking of melk.......
My milk shakes bring all the boys to the yard! I can sing it JJ cause it's true for me...and I hope not for you. Wow ok, Amy! I love the decor! So wonderful. I didn't post my cute shamrock lights in my kitchen, but I did trade them up for some 'egg' garland for Easter. I don't really have any Easter decor-are you making stuff?
