This 4th of July holiday we went to the "West Side" of our Mountain and did a little camping with our best buddies. It was simply the most wonderful weekend I've had in a long time. It seriously was so great. The weather was wonderful. The company was fantastic. The kids had an absolute blast!! They played and played and were covered in dirt. I always say that dirt is proof of time well spent. And because the kids were so busy the mom's had some time to just sit in a camp chair and soak in the sun and the sound of the breeze through the quakies. Nothin' like it I tell ya, nothing!!
We also did some fishing while we were there. Beautiful little lake with plenty of fish biting.
The biggest reason the kids were so busy is that our best friend brought his kids 4-wheeler with them. They all love that thing to pieces and fight over who gets to ride next. Luckily they own helmets that fit all the kids. I did however come home and read an article on KSL about ATV accidents and the staggering number of injuries they cause. Let's just say I had bad dreams for the next couple nights. I know that someday we will again own ATV's so I'll be requiring our family to take the safety courses they now offer. Anyway enough mom rambling.....look how cute they are!
I also had a little "lesson" with my kids about Independence Day and what that means for our country. We also have a few family members who server our country in the Armed Forces so we had a discussion about that too. On a lighter note to celebrate this patriotic holiday we made some stars and hung them in the trees. So simple but so cute!
I was oh so sad to see the weekend come to an end. Headed back to reality, work and laundry. Oh and did I mention that it was only in the 70's while we were there?! We had to drive back into 100 degree heat. It was so nice to get away and enjoy those gorgeous mountains. Thank you so much to our friends for coming with us. I'm glad you caved to our relentless pestering! The weekend would NOT have been the same without you!!
(Oh and for a good bear story just ask Jayson. I can't tell it like he can. All that weekend I was worried about him on his dirt bike and I was worrying for the wrong reason!!)

I loved this post. Camping is great isn't it?! Nature is such an amazing peaceful thing to sit and enjoy. It also scares me though too, because of bears! haha If I had Jayson with me every time I went camping I wouldn't worry about a thing. =)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had such a good time - you deserve it!! I love that you spent time talking about this great country and the men & women we are protected by. I think we all could use a reminder of how lucky we are!! I love the pictures of the kids - they make me smile!
